David H. Nevel, a South Florida native, earned his Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of Miami. In his more than 40 years as an attorney, Mr. Nevel has represented clients in Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Collier, and Lee counties and throughout the state of Florida, and has extensive experience in civil litigation, criminal defense, and administrative law. He currently lives and works in Naples, Florida, where his practice is focused on establishing guardianships for children reaching the age of majority and other persons who are incapacitated due to autism and/or other developmental disabilities, mental illness, or related conditions. Mr. Nevel also defends persons facing criminal charges as a result of behaviors emanating from mental illness and/or developmental disabilities. The father of a daughter with autism, he earned a doctorate in special education and autism from Nova Southeastern University, is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and welcomes opportunities to represent parents of public school students with autism and other disabilities in IEP meetings and legal proceedings when necessary to enforce the children's rights to appropriate special education services and supports guaranteed to them by law.
