David H. Nevel, a South Florida native, earned his Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of Miami. In his more than 40 years as an attorney, Mr. Nevel has represented clients in Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Collier, and Lee counties and throughout the state of Florida, and has extensive experience in civil litigation, criminal defense, and administrative law. He currently lives and works in Naples, Florida, where his practice is focused on establishing guardianships for children reaching the age of majority and other persons who are incapacitated due to
autism and/or other developmental disabilities, mental illness, or related conditions. Mr. Nevel also defends the rights of persons facing criminal charges as a result of behaviors emanating from mental illness and/or developmental disabilities or other unfortunate circumstances. The father of a daughter with autism, Mr. Nevel earned a doctoral degree in special education and autism from Nova Southeastern University and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. In addition to the other legal services he provides, Dr. Nevel welcomes opportunities to represent parents of public school students with autism and other disabilities in IEP meetings and legal proceedings if necessary to protect the children's rights to the special education services and supports guaranteed to them by law.
